Q: How do I get to Misool?
A: There is a public ferry connecting Sorong (SOQ) to Misool, called Fajar Baru, leaving
from Sorong harbour called Pelabuhan Rakyat Sorong. Or you can charter private speedboat
from Sorong or Waisai Raja Ampat to Misool. The private alternative is a bit costly due to the
double fare back and forth and petrol prices. But if you are a large group, this is convenient
and it saves time. Reach out to us if you need assistance too book transportation.
Q: How much the ferry ticket from Sorong to Misool?
A: The ferry ticket is at 250k IDR one way. For your convenience, you may need to rent cabin
at 400k IDR per cabin (2 bunk bed in a room) with fan or 500k per cabin (2 bunk bed in a
room) with Air Condition.
Q: What is the operating schedule of the ferry, and how long can I stay at Lalelkai?
A: The schedule for the "Slow ferry" that operates from/to Sorong – Misool. is once a week.
Current schedule is Monday from Sorong to Misool and Thursday from Misool to Sorong.
Please note that there may be changes in the schedule. Consult us or Stay Raja Ampat for
guidance how to book your transfer.
Q: How long can I visit Misool?
A: Based in the current ferry schedule, you can visit Misool either 3 Days 2 Nights or 10
Days 9 Nights. If you have chartered your own transportation, you can off course stay any
number of days.
Q: Can we share costs with others?
A Yes you can, as long as you agreed among guests who want to share with you. It's means
you should have the same date of visit, the same travel plans.
Q: Why is Misool more expensive than Northern/Central Raja Ampat?
A: It's because the most of logistic for homestay/locals come from Sorong that means the
price is almost double than Northern/Central Raja Ampat. It is a remote location.
Q: Can we do diving in Misool?
A: Yes you can. There is a dive shop in Lalelkai. Please bear in mind that most local dive
guides in Misool can't speak English or very limit English speaking guide.
Q: Can we pay by credit card/foreigner currency?
A: No. The payment should be done in cash or bank transfer (talk to your homestay regarding
payment) and preferably in IDR.
Q: Do we need to book homestay in advance?
A: Yes, it's better to book and pay a deposit to secure your reservation. The homestays need to
plan for supplies and the number of beds are limited.
Q: Can we combine Snorkelling/islands hopping and diving in Misool?
A: Yes, you can combine all activities as long as they are in the same area and can be reached
on a day trip.
